Hello Everybody!

How are your holidays, and seasons happening? Respectively well, I hope! Please tell me! What's the best part of your holidays? What are you looking forward to in 2014?

On this end, things have been rather quiet. I am gearing up for a new chapter in my photographers life, and in my personal life. As of December, I have cut off most of my TF sessions, and have decided to focus on my career, rather than my book. As a photographer, I didn't quite understand this thought until rather recently. I continually asked myself, "When do I stop being the new graduate? The baby in the industry, if you will".

Some of you know, I have only been a graduated student photographer for about a year. And since then, it's been an up and down year of emotions both good and bad, confusion, and then the ultimate realization that everything would indeed be alright. You just need to take everything one single step at a time.

2013 brought a trio of published works; It brought about a sense of accomplishment, and joy in my work. One of my big goals for 2013 was to accumulate a bit of work that would be considered ready for publishing.

I had my first photographic road trip. Not far, mind, but I had a solid two days of shooting with an amazing team on Prince Edward Island. I probably added at least 200 kilometres on the car, a billion mosquito bites, and about 13 hours of accumulative shooting to my tally afterwards, and it was entirely worth it. I met a team of amazing women who held up even under the most stressful and hectic circumstances, and had the opportunity to work with a handful of gorgeous ladies, and pony!

This year marked my first year as a media photographer; with media passes to various fashionable events around the City. Turbine, Atlantic Fashion Week, and the Everything to do with Sex Show (Which I have recently been invited back to for the third year in a row as part of the media team!)  as well as various other shows in Halifax.

I ventured up to New Brunswick (And anyone who knows me, knows that I live under a rock!) to become a part of their industry. I had the opportunity to meet, chat, and get to know several new people, as well as a good friend of mine from #iPhotograph , CRWithers (Hurry up and come back to the Maritimes already!) ! I keep hoping to get back up and visit several folks again in the coming year, if not to shoot with as well!

But mostly?

I realized just how lucky I am to have the contacts, friends, and acquaintances I have within the Halifax Industry. The wide net of awesome folks knows no bounds, and I am extremely thankful for everyone I've worked with, and had the pleasure to shoot. There are so many wonderful people in the city, and surrounding provinces, and it's quite amazing to see so much creativity come together. I hope to see, and experience the artistic community and everything it has to offer in 2014.
